Arthur L. Brown was born in Chatham, Mississippi, and raised in Greenville, where he attended Lucy L. Webb Elementary and T.L. Weston Jr/Sr High School, graduating with the Class of 1970. As student body president, he helped lead the historic 1969 walkout that catalyzed changes in Greenville’s public schools. A U.S. Air Force veteran and lifelong learner, Brown studied at Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Grand Canyon University (B.A. in Theology), and is pursuing graduate study at Dallas Baptist University. He is a proud father and grandfather, and he writes to honor the students, teachers, and neighbors who stood together for dignity in education.
